83 Things to Do on a Rainy Day

All week we look forward to the weekend and sometimes it can be a complete wash out thanks to the typical British weather! So I’ve put together a list of 83 things to do on a rainy day to give you a little inspiration… :).

Rain drops on a window, things to do on a rainy day

  71. Watch a documentary on Channel 4 – they’re the best/quirkiest
  72. Write a poem or a story
  73. Look on Groupon or Table Pouncer for a seriously tasty afternoon tea deal/voucher

  75. Sell some things on eBay or Gum Tree
  76. Relax in the bath with a bubble bar or bomb
  77. Do a crossword
  78. Go out and buy a new board game
  79. Wrap up warm and go ice skating at an indoor rink
  80. Dip your toes in culture and visit a museum
  81. Round up your pals and go go-karting
  82. If you know the rain is coming in advance, you could book into an adult’s playzone (they really do exist!)
  83. Investigate some exciting plans for when the sun actually does shine. Read all about our visit to Portland Bill Lighthouse, when we made the most of the blue skies and dry weather.

I hope this has given you some inspiration when it comes to fun things to do on a rainy day. If you have any ideas to add, please let me know in the comments and I can extend the list and give you credit :).

Frieda’s Afternoon Tea Bus

This post is a yummy one…

I recently spent the afternoon with two of my best friends in the world, on a Frieda’s Tearoom bus, travelling along the Bournemouth coastline while enjoying a delicious afternoon tea!

Frieda's Tea Bus

Everything from the decor to the service was just lovely and once we’d taken our seats upstairs on the bus, we didn’t know where to start with the heavenly spread laid out in front of us!

From macaroons to sandwiches, cakes and scones we were in for a treat and it took us a little while to decide where to start.

The girls were so thoughtful in planning ahead to definitely make sure that Frieda and the team know that I am vegetarian.

Of course, being on a moving bus means that we had to be extra careful with our orange juice, coffee and hot chocolate. Luckily we avoided spillages as our hot drinks were served in these coffee cups and there were cup holders in the tables – every tiny detail had been thought about 🙂

We hopped on the bus at Bournemouth pier and the journey took us along the cliff top to Hengistbury Head.

Our driver was also a knowledgeable guide and told us things about the coastline we never even knew, despite growing up in the local area!

We were so lucky with the weather and our afternoon was blessed by some glorious Autumnal sunshine!

We certainly polished off our plates, but who could really blame us?! The scones were my highlight, a classic for afternoon tea 🙂

Thanks so much again to the both of you, it was an unforgettable birthday present!

Have you spotted Frieda’s afternoon tea bus in Bournemouth? Do you have a tea bus where you live?

Let me know! I’d love to hear all about it! 🙂

When the Fancy Dress Theme is ‘Anything but Clothes…’

Happy November!

I hope all enjoyed the spooky celebrations over the last few days, we certainly did!

My friend Lolly shares her birthday with Halloween and as you can imagine she always plans a super fun fancy dress party. This year’s theme was ABC (Anything but Clothes).

But as it is illegal to rock a birthday suit on a night out we had to come up with a plan.

After witnessing this fancy dress theme on sports night’s at university, I thought it would be easy – yay for a Twister mat dress.

Boy was I wrong… My boyfriend Alex needed a costume too and so we scratched our heads and browsed Pinterest (of course) and came up with this idea.

Asda were kind enough to provide us with lots of cardboard boxes to help make our creation. Then after a couple of hours of spray paint, parcel tape, glue and of course lots of love, our Lego friends were born…

We obviously had to make a set of IDs too…

As you can imagine, we got quite a few comments about our costumes from fellow party goers outside the bar, including people sharing their love for Legoland!

It was so fun to make the costumes and wear them out and despite bending the rules slightly, by wearing leggings/trousers to preserve our dignity, we were over the moon to have won the prize ‘best dressed’ (Lolly, you cutie!)

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever dressed up as? I’d love to know, leave a comment or tweet me.

10 Ways to Help You De-Stress

Hi Everyone! I’m back on my blog with a little post which I hope will guide you when times get tough and help you when your mind and body are desperately calling out for some TLC…

The Beach

Have a Pamper Night

Whether this is a full blown exfoliation and face mask session or simply redoing your nails and moisturising, the most important thing is that you are spending time on yourself – something which can often go overlooked when your life is jam packed!

Book an Adventure

If you’re anything like me, it’s always good to have a weekend away, holiday or exciting day out to look forward to. We work so hard all week and yes we have bills to pay and savings to build, but we have a life to live too. So book that holiday, tick that city off your bucket list and go exploring!

Have a Good Cry

When I was younger, I thought it was a sign of weakness to cry, but growing up I’ve realised that actually crying is a de-stressing mechanism. Too often we let things get on top of us and while exercise can be great at keeping our feelings in balance, sometimes we need to let out all the frustration in one big hit.

Do Absolutely Nothing

Has anyone else noticed how quickly the nights are drawing in already?! Plus as I’m writing this I am already tucked up in bed with my slipper socks and am extremely tempted by a hot water bottle. Autumn/Winter is the perfect excuse to change straight into your pyjamas after work and park yourself on the sofa for the whole evening with the TV and a takeaway – it’s good for the soul, trust me! 🙂

Try Something New

It’s quite easy to fall into a routine and get seriously comfortable, but every now and again push yourself out of your comfort zone. Last summer I tried paddle boarding and LOVED it, this year it felt good to get out on the water again, and we are already thinking about buying our very own boards next year! Or if you played a sport when you were younger or had a hobby which you had to put on the back burner, make time to fall in love with it all over again!

Get Organised

Cleaning, tidying and organising is so therapeutic, now don’t get me wrong, I am no Monica Geller – my boyfriend will tell you that, but it’s so calming to sort through my purse and bin old receipts or go through my drawers and finally part with clothes which I have come to admit, I really will never wear again. There’s so much to be said for negative energy and getting rid of anything which doesn’t evoke positive emotions, so give it a try sometime 🙂

Lose Yourself in a Bubble Bath

Relax your muscles, dim the lights and read a magazine cover to cover, because I bet you can’t remember the last time you did that?

I am just four pounds away from my holiday weight goal and while I am desperately trying to achieve it through exercise, I’ve come to realise that it’s not good to deprive your body of what it craves the most. One chocolate bar is not going to send your diet spiralling into disrepair, so enjoy!

Go a Little Crazy

An evening of delicious cocktails, your best girlfriends and cheesy music can do a world of good. I find the best nights out to be Fridays, because you can just let the stresses of the week go and take great pleasure in the fact that although you may feel slightly fragile on the Saturday, you still have a whole Sunday to make the most of too! 🙂

Take Some Timeout

This one might be a challenge, but it is vital that you remember to give yourself a break. You can only do your best, so try to not put so much pressure on yourself with working so hard, remember to have fun too!

Thank you for taking the time to read my post! How do you de-stress? Let me know in the comments… 🙂
