My Beauty Favourites of 2015

Although this little blog has been running for a year now, I’ve only written one ‘favourites’ post!

So with the New Year in sight, there’s no better time to get into the swing of it with my Beauty Favourites of 2015!

L’Oreal – Skin Perfection Cleansing & Perfecting Milk: About 18 months ago, I made the decision never, ever to use face wipes again. Although they are easy to use, they’re also really harsh on my skin and leave it so red and blotchy. I’ve tried a few make-up removers, but this one is by far a winner. It gently removes make-up and impurities while simultaneously nourishes my skin.

Soap and Glory – Orangeasm Body Wash: Thanks to the incredible gift sets which grace the shelves in Boots every single Christmas, I was introduced to this beauty and I am actually now on my third bottle! It smells absolutely divine and leaves my skin feeling really fresh and smelling delicious.

Vaseline – Spray Moisturiser (Cocoa Radiant): Now this product is very new to my favourites, but I have already fallen head over heels for it. When you are in a rush, getting changed after the gym or are generally a lazy bum (don’t worry, we’ve all been there), this sweet ‘spray and go’ moisturiser is your answer to silky smooth skin. Plus, who wouldn’t want to spray themselves with chocolate?!

The Body Shop – Lip Balm, Strawberry: In winter especially, I can’t go five minutes without applying lip balm, and throughout the whole of 2015, The Body Shop has come out on top with their magical pot of strawberry lip care. What’s more, you’ll find the dream team lies in the use of this lip balm along with its sister product, the lip butter, which is also available at the store.

beautyfavourites2The Body Shop – Vitamin E Intense Moisturiser Cream: I have loved the Vitamin E range for years and years, and I think my obsession has rubbed off on my boyfriend as he is now addicted to their Aqua Boost Sorbet! The best things about this range are its non-greasy formula and ability to leave skin feeling cool, refreshed and smooth, while still able to breathe.

Charlotte Tilbury – Lip Liner, Pillow Talk: This time last year, I never even owned a lipstick, let alone a lip liner (I was more of a lipgloss fan), now thanks to an amazing giveaway win on Things Sarah Loves blog (which you can read all about here), I am besotted. The shade is a gorgeous match to my lips and I have even found a L’Oreal lipstick which blends perfectly with it too!

bareMinerals – Complexion Rescue, Butter Cream: I won’t go on about this too much, as I have dedicated a whole post to this skin saving product here, but this is definitely a beauty must have which I will be buying again and again throughout 2016 and beyond!

beautyfavourites3Soap and Glory – Mascara, Thick and Fast: Having never tried anything from the Soap and Glory make-up range, I was really excited to try this one out. More often than not I am switching between mascaras, and I am always a victim of the placebo effect and never know whether a mascara is actually lengthening and thickening my eyelashes, or whether its all in my head. However, I was joint at the hip with this product, if I couldn’t find it in my make-up bag, I’d have a mini heart attack, and sweat it out until we were reunited!

Maybelline – Mascara, Lash Sensational: As I mentioned, I am a pushover when it comes to this eye essential, which is probably why two have made it to my beauty favourites of 2015! After borrowing one of my best friend’s mascaras (before you say it, I know, you shouldn’t do this, my hands are up, guilty! But don’t try and play all innocent with me, I know you’re all guilty too 😉 ), I just had to run out to Boots and pick it up! I used to be unable to leave the house for a night out, without wearing a pair of trusty Eyelure fake eyelashes, but this mascara is a sensational substitute! 😉

Cerruti 1881: A classic fragrance, which launched way back in 1995 and has been my signature scent for the last few years. Without blowing my own trumpet, I have never received as many compliments about a beauty product as I have with this one! The fresh, floral scent is light enough for the daytime as well as doubling up as a sensual accessory to any killer outfit ready for a night out. Finally, I although I am very fussy when it comes to fragrances, I am however, looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone in 2016 and discovering a new perfume and who knows, I might be lucky enough to find one in the post-Christmas sales!

Do you use any of these products? What are your favourites of 2015? I would love to know! Let me know in the comment box or tweet me.

Lush Magic Wand Bubble Bar Review

First of all, IT’S SO PRETTY!!!

It would have been the completely wrong thing to do if had left the Lush store in Bournemouth without it.

It’s pink, sparkly, has a cute bow and even cuter jingly bell, what more could a girl want?!
Plus it smells absolutely divine! I paraded it around the house for everyone to try the scent and my little sister, who reviewed Lush’s Frozen bath bomb here, claimed that it reminded her of slush puppies.

It does indeed smell divine, predominantly of bubblegum, and I can’t believe how long the scent filled the bathroom and lasted on my skin for!

Now for the ‘reusable’ element, I have used the Magic Wand Bubble Bar twice now and with a little rationing I am sure that I could stretch it out to four in total.

If you like your baths completely Lush-tastic and really enriched with the store’s magic, then you may only be able to use the bubble bar three times.

I also found that if you genuinely wave the Magic Wand like a fairy up and down your bath in the water, rather than running it under the tap, it will last a lot longer with less pressure.

At £5.25 it is definitely one of Lush’s pricier bath products, but every girl deserves to have someone wave a magic wand so that they can feel like a princess every now and again don’t they? 🙂

So you’re looking for a stocking filler, or after a beautiful present to complete your secret Santa gift, this Magic Wand Bubble Bar will add so much sparkle!

Also I would like to take this opportunity to give a massive shout out to two ladies… Ami Ford, whose beautiful blog you can see here and AnneMarie who you can follow on instagram here who both guessed which bubble bar I was using, just from a picture of the bubbles! You girls are definitely Lush queens!

Have you used this Magic Wand Bubble Bar? Let me know what you thought of it! Also I would love to hear which Lush products are on your Christmas list this year! You can leave me a comment or tweet me.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue and Foundation – A Winning Combo

A little while ago I tweeted that my skin hadn’t been in such good condition in a long time, and that I was really happy with how clear it was looking.

When I was in my teenage years and very early 20s (I’m definitely still early 20s, okay? haha, I mean earrrrly like 20/21) I struggled with bad skin. It really upset me as I could never go on a night out and be happy with how my skin looked, or just wake up in the morning and not have to worry about putting make-up on to step outside my front door.

Although I had two courses of roaccutane (a long story for another blog post) which completely transformed my skin, I was still left with red marks and scarring and still longing for clear and fresh skin.

In my battle to achieve this, over the past 10 years (wow, I have actually been wearing make-up since I was 13! I first discovered it when I tried out my mum’s eye-liner, with very watery eyes and black smudges under each, I can remember going out to my brother’s summer school fate feeling extremely grown up and thinking that I looked the bees knees, oh how I have come a long way since haha), anyway, back to the point… over the past 10 years I’ve tried so many different foundations to try and cover up my spots but also to prevent further outbreaks, drying and oily skin.

From Rimmel’s Wake Me Up, to Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousee and Max Factor’s Face Finity, I have tried lots of different types of drug store brands and never found anything that worked.

One day, my mum took me to the bareMinerals counter in Debenhams and they explained that their products really are good for your skin. Something which is obviously hard to believe because the best thing for your face is to wear nothing but your bare beauty. However, bareMinerals speak nothing but the truth.

I have been using their powder foundation (in the shade ‘light’) for years, which gives flawless, weightless and effortless coverage, genuinely giving my skin a healthy glow. Which I thought was amazing enough, until I got my hands on their Complexion Rescue.

When it was first released, I couldn’t afford it at £26 (being a poor graduate and not earning very much), so sadly I had to wait until my birthday when my Mum gave me a tube in the shade buttercream.

My birthday was at the end of September and more recently, I have been wearing the Complexion Rescue as a base for my foundation every single day, and boy am I impressed. I use my finger to rub a pea sized amount into my skin before applying my powder foundation over the top with my bareMinerals brush.

This gives me unrivalled coverage, rehydrates my skin and lasts all day. Plus, it I am in a rush, or just feeling a non-make-up day, then this little beauty answers all my skin healing prayers.

hand2Just look how beautifully it blends into my skin.

For the first time in my life I can actually say that I am pretty happy with my skin and feel confident even when I am not wearing a single brush or rub of foundation. I have bareMinerals to thank for that, and I honestly can’t recommend their collection enough.

What do you think of the Complexion Rescue? Have you used any bareMinerals products? Which do you recommend? Let me know by leaving me a comment or tweeting me!

Frozen Bath Bomb Review By My Little Sister

This Lush bath bomb review comes straight from the mind of my seven-year-old sister. Whilst running my bath, I asked if she would like to put the Frozen bath bomb in (an amazing birthday present from Erin, who featured in my last post).

At first she was amazed and held it tight in her hands before screaming, ‘you should write a blog post on this!’

 So that’s what she did:

‘I like the sparkly light blue and dark blue.

‘It feels like crumbly sand and I like the fact the sparkles stay around in the water.

‘It looks so blue, like the whole entire sea and the sky. The bubbles (which I was told off for accidentally putting in too) look like the clouds’.

The smell (an important factor)…

‘It actually smells a bit like sweets. It’s fruity, kind of like fruit pastilles. I bet they taste exactly the same as well.’

It was at this point I explained that while Lush products smell delicious, I wouldn’t recommend eating them.

Lara then said, ‘yeah, otherwise then it would taste like its exploded’.

So there you have it, a seven-year-old’s take on one of Lush’s beloved bath bombs.

After she left the bathroom, I enjoyed a relaxing and magical bath in all the sparkles and thanks to the fairytale vibes, my skin feels as soft as a princess’.

Would we repurchase the Frozen bath bomb? Definitely, Lara already has one ready to go for her next bath time!

Have you tried the Frozen bath bomb? What others do you like too? Let me know in the comment box or tweet me.
