Summer Time Beauty Haul

Hi Everyone!

How are you all? It’s been a good while since I’ve blogged but it feels so refreshing to be back with a new post! Although I’ve been blogging on and off for about a year and a half I’ve never actually done a ‘haul post’, despite venturing out on many shopping sprees. So here’s a little look at which beauty products I’ve purchased lately…

mini haul

L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist £7.99

Now I can’t be the only girl who sprays her face with hair spray in a feeble attempt to ensure that her makeup lasts all evening. But I thought it was about time I started improving my skin care, by not clogging my pores and stinging my eyes, and instead paying more attention to using products for what they’re actually intended for. This wasn’t too pricey and smells absolutely divine and I am really looking forward to using it. I’m going out on a bike ride today, so will be able to sample it’s sweatability factor (it’s totally okay to invent words right?!) and I just need another excuse to hit the dance floor to test out its durability!

Barry M Quick Dry in the Shade ‘Freestyle’ £3.99

You know the story, if you’re right handed, you are some sort of nail varnish queen when it comes to painting your left hand. However the right is a whole different story in a whole different library. A silly wobbly mistake on one nail can quickly end in a handful of smudges, chips and disrepair. So thank the lord Barry M decided to invent a fabulous Quick Dry range. I picked up a nude colour in the shade ‘Freestyle’ to add to my growing collection. I already know this is going to be one of my go-to bottles when I want to freshen up my nails in under two minutes flat. If you’ve not tried this range yet, I highly recommend it (I’ve got my mum hooked too), the polishes are extremely affordable and there’s always an offer on in Boots and Superdrug too!

Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream in Petal £4.99

You might have spotted a natural theme throughout this mini haul and this lip product joins the club. I’ve heard rave reviews about the Sleek collection and I’m so, SO excited to see how well this lasts on my lips! FullSizeRender

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Highlighting Dome £8

I’ve loved The Body Shop skin care products since before I can remember, however I’ve never really thought too much about their makeup range until the last year or so and I am now a HUGE fan! Being a newbie to the world of highlighter (I know where have I been?) I put my desires to the good people of Twitter and was recommended either Sleek or The Body Shop highlighters (I asked for bank account friendly suggestions). There are three shades to choose from, a dark tone, pink blush and I bought the golden shimmery colour. It’s really subtle which I like, and I’m enjoying how well it blends with my blusher and how light it feels on my skin.

The Body Shop Face Base (All-in-One Foundation and Powder) £14

I’ve not used a powder in years (used to be a massive fan of Max Factor’s), so this purchase was a long time coming! I’ve only used this once, but I love how light and velvety it feels on my skin. Also, from one beauty lover to another, ALWAYS remember to check VoucherCodes or Voucher Cloud before heading to the till because you can ALWAYS find a voucher and you can quite often use them in conjunction with the sale in store too!

The Body Shop Lipscuff £8

I struggle with dry lips so much, despite owning about five thousand lip balms. I think it’s the weather and the constant need to drink more water. However after just one use, I am seriously impressed! My lips, especially my bottom one, are SO smooth. Although I am not a fan of mint, this lip product in particular is not overwhelming and leaves my lips feeling fresh and flake free. While it’s quite pricey, it will be interesting to see how long the Lipscuff lasts, although you can’t really put a price on silky smooth skin!

Thanks so much for reading my first post in a good while! I really appreciate every single one of you who takes the time out of your busy day to see what I’ve been up to!

Which beauty products have you been buying lately? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to know! XO

Mini Lush Easter Haul

My little sister is asking questions about Father Christmas, but she’s yet to raise her suspicious about the Easter bunny.

So when ‘he’ comes into the garden to hide delicious chocolate treats, all of us, adult or not, love getting on our hands and knees to look high and low for something in a shiny wrapper!

Easter also signifies that the warm summer months and long, gorgeous BBQ evenings are well and truly on their way.

The flowers and blossoms colour the gardens and the new born animals are cuter than ever! Click here to read my post on White Post farm and to squeal over the sweetest pictures of lambs and little chicks.

But of course we must not forget that just before Easter, Lush release some Spring-time goodness!

I popped into my local store for some treats and came away with these beauties…

Golden Egg

Not to be confused with the scrummy Galaxy Golden Eggs which have graced the shelves and lined our stomach’s already this year…

This toffee-scented bath bomb melt is a silky delight and just handling the egg makes me excited to use this product, simply because it leaves a trail of glitter EVERYWHERE… How princess like!

Fluffy Egg

In appearance, this girly bath bomb reminds me so much of the Lush classic, Think Pink, however this one smells of all kinds of sweets and candy goodness.

Which Came First?

I believe this one has simply been renamed following its previous years as ‘Immaculate Eggception’. However I love the new name, hinting towards the dumbfounding question, which came first? The egg or the chicken?

Priced at just under £7 you might wince slightly at the price tag, but for Lush lovers, it’s definitely worth it, as this HUGE egg splits into three (you could pretty much do some light weights with it haha, I mean look at the size difference!) – perfect for a trio of luxury baths.

While the little chick inside doesn’t reeeeaallyy resemble a chick, the mini bath bomb inside is still adorable and smells fruitilicious (is this even a word?).

The whole Easter range is a must-have, and I was a tiny bit heartbroken walking away from Humpty Dumpty (a brand new lush invention!!) but the lady in the shop advised me that the What Came First, which is equally priced, ‘works better’ allowing the hidden surprise to just pop out once the egg has been cracked!

Have you picked up any Lush goodies recently? Let me know which bath bombs you’re LOVING at the moment and leave me a comment.

Did you read my sister’s review on the Frozen bath bomb?

Here’s what I made of the Magic Wand Bubble Bar.

bareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara Review

It’s no secret that I am a bareMinerals girl through and through. From every day make-up to skin care, I love the brand and everything they stand for. With a collection designed to not only cover-up, but also nourish your skin, bareMinerals are renowned for their magical skin healing formulas, perfect for girls who love to feel as if they’re wearing nothing at all…

Over the years, I’ve tried and tested pretty much every drug store mascara, in fact Maybelline’s Lash Sensational featured in my 2015 beauty favourites. Plus, I’ve fallen in and out of love with ones by Chanel, Christian Dior, YSL and Lancome to name a few.

However, since it’s release, for some strange reason bareMinerals’ Lash Domination seems to have always got lost on the way to my make-up collection. THANKFULLY, Father Christmas, a.k.a my Mum, came to the rescue, and to make up (<–wow, comedy genius or what?) for lost time, she bought me the gift set which included a travel-sized mascara too!

bareMinerals have specifically chosen a spiral wand to aid the application of their formula, and for best results, you need to blink into the wand as you slowly twist it. This is perhaps, the only drawback, as for optimum results, you do have to be extremely patient (something I am not very good at!) and take great care when applying, otherwise you can risk some serious smudging, which is never a good look.

However, I am COMPLETELY besotted with the finished look. It gives the false lash effect without the glue, drama of cutting them to the right size, and ensuring that they don’t find themselves half way down your face on a night out…haha what a way to lower the tone Charlotte!

No, seriously, if you’re looking for a dramatic, volumised effect this is The One. While I’ve read on other reviews that some girls have had problems with clumping, I’ve been lucky, but if this is the case, a simple eye lash brush will definitely smooth these out, ensuring that your lashes are picture perfect.

I’ve also found that the formula, although initially quite wet when applied, (hence the need for a steady hand, patience and that open mouthed concentrating mascara face – you know the one girls…) it is extremely long lasting. There’s been occasions when I’ve applied my make-up at nine in the morning, and come through the door close to midnight and although my eye-liner has smudged beyond belief, my eyelashes are still just as dramatic.

Finally, despite this being a trait of any mascara, I genuinely love the contrast between the thick, dark lashes and the white of my eyes, giving a sharp, bold look.

I don’t usually apply much mascara to my bottom lashes as I wear pencil liner on my lower lid, and have done since I was 13! So it may be up to you to decide whether you like the look on your lower lashes, but here’s the look after and pre-application, what do you think? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

If you’re a fan of bareMinerals products too, or maybe you’re looking to treat yourself to something a bit different, you can read my complexion rescue review here.

My Blogger Secret Santa

I know what you’re thinking, ‘secret Santa was soooooo last year’, and you’d be right. But amongst the relaxing, festivities, chocolate eating and hours and hours of board game playing, I didn’t have much time for my blog.

However, I have been dying to show you just how amazing my blogger secret Santa is/was! Between a small group of us, the lovely Sarah organised the draw of who would buy for who and funnily enough Sarah was my Father Christmas in disguise 😉

Naturally, Sarah and I being the nosy, giggly people that we are, couldn’t resist ‘telling each other who we had been chosen to buy for’. Initially, Sarah played it pretty cool and manage to convince me that she was excitedly shopping for another one of our blogging friends, then when should wouldn’t tell me what she had bought, I began to have my suspicions and I was right!

So on Christmas Day (okay Sarah you may or may not know this, but I did actually open the beautifully wrapped gifts Christmas Eve night and left it a little while to message you to keep the magic alive… hahaha love you!), I opened the most thoughtful presents!

Sarah had taken the trouble to personalise some yummy Thorntons chocolate, popped in a packet of Malteser reindeer, which as you can see, barely even lasted for a photo, and other sweet treats! Mmmm!

Next I unwrapped this GORGEOUS mirror, which has pride of place on my dressing table. It’s pink, pretty and I love it to bits!

HeartAnyone who knows me, will know that I love a good quote. Whenever I am feeling down or in need of some inspiration, I will head to Instagram and trawl through the #qotd or #lifequotes hashtags. So when I unwrapped this plaque, I felt so touched by the thought which went into Sarah’s gifts.

As you can see, Sarah seriously spoilt me as she also included these beauty products. A nude lipstick by MUA, which I adore, as it was only in 2015 that I actually branched out from my obsession with lip-gloss and purchased my first ever lipsticks. What’s more, if a secret Santa was ever stuck for a gift idea for me, nail varnish is the best bet ever! I have a huge collection and I am always browsing the nail varnishes in Boots and Superdrug, trying to hunt down a new addition. So, thank you Sarah for this mint green shade, it will be perfect for when spring comes round again (I am already counting down the days!)

The Baylis and Harding Midnight Fig and Pomegranate Body Wash came in a sparkly cracker and was a complete surprise. I’ve never actually used any beauty products containing pomegranate, but now I will be hunting some down, the fragrance is so sweet and now I would love a moisturiser with the same heavenly scent!

cardFinally, and be no means least, the card which revealed Sarah’s previously ‘secret’ identity 😉 Thank you so much, you beautiful lady for my amazing gifts, and the incredible amount of thought behind them, for always supporting me with my blog and whenever I need life advice.

Thank you to everyone who has read this post, make sure you go and follow Sarah on Twitter, because I can guarantee that in some way she will bring a little positivity to your life! 🙂

Did you take part in a secret Santa this year? Did you do a blogger or a work one? I would love to hear all about it in the comment box! Or you can tweet me.
